Opportunity to attend a union conference in San Diego, California

The semi-annual WAGE (Working Assembly of Governmental Employees) union conference this spring will be held at the Best Western Island Palms Hotel & Marina in San Diego CA on March 19-21, 2020.  There is an opportunity for one member-at-large to attend, along with officers and stewards.  This is a great chance to learn more about unions and the common struggles we all face, and to get to know your union leadership team better.

DMLSA would pay for your conference registration, and you would be reimbursed for airfare, 3 nights hotel, ground transportation to and from airport, and a per diem for meals.  If you wanted to stay longer, you would pay for the additional nights yourself, and if you wanted to take a companion, you would pay their airfare yourself.

You would need to use vacation or comp time to cover your absence from work.  If you are interested, please request the time off in Novatime and get approval before you let me know to put your name into consideration.  Please let me know by Saturday, January 4 if you are interested and then we will draw a name out of the hat for who will get the chance to attend this year.  If it turns out that you are not chosen, you can then let your manager know that your plans fell through and cancel your Novatime vacation request.

Everyone who attends learns something new about unions and makes some great networking contacts with fellow government union workers from around the country.  We hope to see you there!
