The Library's Board of Trustees met today for about one hour in front of a crowd of 25 to 30 bargaining unit members. During that time, they ratified the Memorandum of Understanding that we ratified earlier in the day. Tim Kambitsch announced that the Library will be closed on Sundays. Mr. Kambitsch also released a couple of details about how the furlough program would be administered. Beginning Thursday, September 17th, one half of the branches would be closed for furlough. On the next Thursday (September 24th), the other half would be closed for furlough. This pattern repeats itself until November. No mention was made of how the Main Library and its various departments would be handled for the furlough, but we are confident that details will be made available soon. The Negotiating Team and the Executive Council would like to thank each and every one of you for your support throughout this grueling ordeal.
