-YARD SIGNS
- All 3000 of our yard signs have been distributed
to the branches.
- Signs should begin appearing in yards on
Saturday October 3rd.
- Please do not put out any signs
or make them available until then.
- Our first priority is getting these signs
into people’s yards. Especially patrons who have requested
a sign from us via the web site. We want people to see that their
neighbors are supporting the levy and the library.
- If you choose to display a sign in a public
place, such as near a road or an exit ramp, you are personally responsible
for that sign. Make sure you remove it after the election.
- If your branch runs out of signs, please
contact Jamie McQuinn at
This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
for
assistance in getting more.
- If no signs are available, Library Champion signs
will work well as a substitute. Please contact Carl Bach at the Main
library for these.
- Finally, anyone can create their own sign
for a car or window by visiting the Google group site for the library
levy…
(http://groups.google.com/group/daytonmetrolibrary09?hl=en&pli=1)
…and using the JPG of the levy symbol there
to create a document.
-MINE PLUS NINE EVENTS
- Lots and lots of Mine Plus Nine volunteer
parties are coming up and we need your help.
- What does a Mine Plus Nine volunteer
do?
- At one of the many Mine Plus
Nine parties, every volunteer chooses nine
(or more) names from a list of labels of local voters.
- It is best to choose the names of
people you know or are familiar with, and
of people who are 90% likely to vote FOR the levy.
- The volunteer takes the labels and
applies them to a sheet.
- The next day, the volunteer calls
each of these nine (or more) voters to make
sure that they are positive about voting “yes.” The volunteer
will answer any questions
the voter has.
- During the week of October 12, the
volunteer will send a hand-addressed
“Dear Friend” postcard to remind them of the levy vote.
- On the night before the election,
the volunteer calls the nine (or more) voters
to remind them to vote and stresses how important each vote
is.
- Finally, on Election Day, the volunteer
calls each voter to make sure they voted, or to offer any
help (a ride, etc) to get the voter to the balloting.
- Mine Plus Nine events are scheduled
at…
- Saturday October 3, 2 pm to 4 pm
at the West Carrollton branch

the Miamisburg branch

-LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
- We still need more letters to the editor,
so please continue to write them.
- You can send these yourself or send them
to Mark Roma at Northtown-Shiloh and he will send them in.
- Any voter can write a letter to the editor,
however if you have any questions at all please contact Mark Roma.
-FACEBOOK
- Advertising on Facebook has begun to pay
off. Since Monday, our levy ad has received approximately 143,000
impressions (which means it has appeared
143,000 times on a Facebook page that someone who lives within 50
miles of Dayton and is of voting age has visited).
- If you have a Facebook profile and would
like to become a fan, simply search for “Protect Dayton Metro Library”
in the search field and join.

-PHONE BANKING
- The phone campaign begins on Thursday October
1 from 5 pm to 8 pm! The location
is the United Way building at 184 Salem Avenue. Volunteers get a free
dinner and a levy campaign mug. More volunteers are needed and can sign
up at the Staff Association web page (www.dmlsa.org).
- Future phone campaign events are scheduled
to be held at Think TV on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6 pm to 8:30 pm
and on Saturdays from 10 am to 12 pm. There are enough phones for 30
people to use, and we need at least 15 volunteers per shift so
please help in any way you can.
