General Membership Meeting and Election
We are having a General Membership Meeting and Election on Sunday, October 19th in the Auditorium of the Main Library. The meeting will begin at 2:00 and should only last about an hour. The polls will be open from 2:00 to 4:00, and you do NOT have to attend the meeting in order to vote. An agenda for the meeting will be made available as soon as it is ready.
The Election Committee will accept nominations for the following positions:
- Vice President (2-year term): Refer to Article II, Section 2.03 of the Bylaws* for a list of the position's responsibilities. Article VI of the Bylaws discusses compensation rates for the Vice President.
- Treasurer (2-year term): Refer to Article II, Section 2.04 of the Bylaws* for a list of the position's responsibilities. Article VI of the Bylaws discusses compensation rates for the Treasurer.
- Stewards (2 positions, each with a 2-year term): Refer to Article III of the Bylaws* for a list of the position's responsibilities. Article VI of the Bylaws discusses compensation rates for Stewards.

Nominations for the previously mentioned offices will be accepted until midnight on Thursday, October 9, 2008. An online nomination form is now available on our web site: http://dmlsa.org/. You will need to log into the web site in order to view the nomination form. Nominations that are submitted online will only be sent to the members of the Election Committee, which are Nicole Eby, Teresa Leopold, and Karen Vanderhorst. Nominations can also be submitted from the floor during the General Membership meeting as long as the nominee is present to accept the nomination.
Nominees will be contacted by the Election Committee on October 10th. An individual can only run for one position. If someone is nominated for more than one position, they must choose which one nomination they will accept, if any. The nominees must notify (in writing or email) a member of the Election Committee of either their acceptance or refusal of the nomination. All nominees must be a voting member of DMLSA who is no longer in their initial probationary period as of the date they are nominated.
If a nominee accepts a nomination, he or she shall submit a brief biography by October 13th for publication on the web site and in an election email to members. Biographies of those standing for election will be posted on the web site and distributed via email by Tuesday, October 14th.
The ballots will be made and printed by members of the Election Committee. Votes can be submitted any time between 2:00 and 4:00 on Sunday, October 19th in the Auditorium at the Main Library. You do not have to attend the General Membership Meeting in order to vote. Those casting a ballot must be a voting member of DMLSA and will be required to sign in before voting. Ballots will be cast on paper and will be secret. Ballots will be counted by the members of the Election Committee, beginning at 4:00. Those running for office are welcome to remain behind to witness the count, but you will not be permitted to assist with the counting whatsoever. Results will be posted on the web site and sent via email the next day (October 20th).
