DMLSA will conduct a very important election on February 28, 2008. (While February 28th is the date of the election, we are looking into the possibility of allowing voting members to cast ballots prior to that date as we realize some staff members may be on vacation and so forth.) Two issues will be on the ballot.

The first issue will be health insurance. This vote will be on whether to accept or to reject the negotiated Memorandum of Understanding between the Library and DMLSA. Details on this issue will be released as soon as our Negotiating Team and the Library agree on its final wording, which will hopefully occur by the end of this week.

The second issue concerns wording of our Constitution. Our current Constitution specifies who can sign checks by office. This issue will change the wording to specify that two check signers will be members of the Executive Council, and those two members will be selected by the Executive Council. This second issue will also be explained in greater detail in the near future.

The voting will be held electronically via DMLSA’s web site (http://dmlsa.org). The way it will work is that if you are a voting member, you will log into the site in order to cast your private ballot. Only one vote per login will be allowed, and non-voting members will not be able to vote. If you have not logged into the site yet, please refer to the February newsletter for details, or email Jen Kadel at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it for assistance.
