Rich Robinson, DMLSA President, read a statement to the DML Board of Trustees at their May 14th meeting.
Hello again-
I’m Rich Robinson, and I’m president of the DML Staff Association, the labor union that represents the Library’s collective bargaining unit. As you are probably aware, contract negotiations are underway. In such times, an environment of increased tension is natural. I’m not here to report on or talk about negotiations, but the weekly confrontations between your team and ours could easily be expected to complicate day-to-day operations.
In this environment of elevated tension, I am happy to report that day-to-day operations seem reasonably uninfluenced; the Library and Union continue to conduct business as usual. This speaks well of the professionalism on both sides of the table, and I wanted to take a moment to publicly recognize that.
I also wanted to express gratitude from the Staff Association to Dr. Spetter for his tireless service to the Library over his tenure on the board. Thank you, sir, for helping our Library continue to thrive during good times and bad.
And once again, thanks to the whole board for the opportunity to once again address you at your monthly meeting.
