I would like to thank Janelle Oren (Catalog Division) for volunteering to read a statement to the Board of Trustees at the June 11th meeting. We need other members to step up and volunteer to read statements to the Board of Trustees at their monthly meetings. The statement is prepared ahead of time so that you have time to peruse it. The Board typically meets on the third Wednesday of each month. If you have not yet volunteered your time to help our organization, please consider reading a statement for us. Your involvement within DMLSA is crucial to ensure that a satisfactory contract is negotiated. If you are interested, please contact Jen Kadel at Ext. 8671.
Hello. My name is Janelle Oren, and I'm a member of the DML Staff Association. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to address the Library Board.
Over the past few weeks, the staff has noted with interest that the Library has begun appearing more often in the local media, including Mr. Kambitsch's recent interviews in the Dayton Daily News. We recognize that we are only six and a half short months from the start of a levy year, and like you, are very interested in the outcome of the levy campaign.
Currently, most of the Staff Association's attention is focused on the ongoing negotiations. As long as those negotiations continue, our energies will most likely continue to be focused there. But once negotiations wrap up, we will have resources to contribute to the levy campaign.
After negotiations conclude, we will more thoroughly consider our role in the levy campaign. We will have both manpower and financial resources that we may choose to bring to the table. Until such time as we are actively engaged in the levy campaign, we are supportive of your efforts.
We recognize and appreciate the importance of the operating levy, and we look forward to working with the Library to improve the probability of a successful campaign.
Thanks for your attention, and thanks again for the opportunity to address you.
